New SCFD9 Hands-Only CPR Program

Spokane County Fire District 9 is proud to announce the launch of our new Hands-Only CPR Program on October 3rd (Demo Day), a community-focused initiative designed to put life-saving skills directly into your hands. This curriculum is taught by the very professionals who serve on the front lines and utilize these life-saving interventions in the field every single day. By equipping more bystanders with the confidence to act, we significantly increase the chances of positive outcomes for patients by ensuring resuscitative measures begin the moment an emergency occurs—often before our crews can arrive on scene.

Our hands-only CPR program is designed to be practical and accessible, focusing on the essential techniques needed during a cardiac emergency. Beyond core resuscitation skills, the class provides comprehensive training on how to assist both choking adults and infants. Additionally, we have integrated Stop the Bleed techniques into the curriculum to help you provide critical care during severe hemorrhaging incidents. Please note that while these classes are expert-led, they are not American Heart Association (AHA) credentialed and do not meet specific OSHA requirements.

As we shift our focus to this community-based model, Spokane County Fire District 9 will no longer be offering credentialed/carded training classes. Join us in making our community safer—one bystander at a time.
